The Investigation of Structure-Activity Relationships of Tacrine Analogues: Electronic-Topological Method
In this study we investigated the structure-activity relationships by using the Electron- Topological Method (ETM) for a class of AChE inhibitors related to tacrine (9-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine) and 11 H-Indeno-[1,2-b]-quinolin-10-ylamine that tetracyclic tacrine analogues, a drug currently in use for the treatment of the AD. Molecular fragments being specific for active and inactive compounds were revealed by using ETM. The result of testing showed the high ability of ETM in predicting the activity and inactivity in investigated series
Histopathologic Evaluation of Acneiform Eruptions: Practical Algorithmic Proposal for Acne Lesions
Acneiform lesions are encountered in different chapters in various dermatology and dermatopathology textbooks. The most common titles used for these disorders are diseases of the hair, diseases of cutaneous appendages, folliculitis, acne, and inflammatory lesions of dermis and epidermis. In this chapter, first of all we will discuss folliculitis, and then acne vulgaris that is a kind of folliculitis will be described. After acne vulgaris, other acneiform eruptions and demodicosis will be studied. At the end, simple algorithmic schemes by assembling clinical, pathological, and microbiological data will be shared
On the binary linear constant weight codes and their autormorphism groups
We give a characterization for the binary linear constant weight codes by
using the symmetric difference of the supports of the codewords. This
characterization gives a correspondence between the set of binary linear
constant weight codes and the set of partitions for the union of supports of
the codewords. By using this correspondence, we present a formula for the order
of the automorphism group of a binary linear constant weight code in terms of
its parameters. This formula is a key step to determine more algebraic
structures on constant weight codes with given parameters. Bonisoli [Bonisoli,
A.: Every equidistant linear code is a sequence of dual Hamming codes. Ars
Combinatoria 18, 181--186 (1984)] proves that the -ary linear constant
weight codes with the same parameters are equivalent (for the binary case
permutation equivalent). We also give an alternative proof for Bonisoli's
theorem by presenting an explicit permutation on symmetric difference of the
supports of the codewords which gives the permutation equivalence between the
binary linear constant weight codes.Comment: 12 page
Kounis Syndrome together with Myocardial Bridging Leading to Acute Myocardial Infarction at Young Age
Kounis syndrome, also named as “allergic angina syndrome,” is a diagnosis in which exposure to an allergen causes mostly coronary spasm and rarely plaque rupture, resulting in ischemic myocardial events. Myocardial bridging is defined as an intramural segment of a coronary artery and its systolic compression by overlying fibers. Myocardial bridging generally has a benign prognosis and mostly affects the mid portion of left anterior descending coronary artery. However, some cases with myocardial ischemia, infarction, and sudden death have also been reported.
A 17-year-old boy presented to the clinic with acute anterolateral myocardial infarction after having first dose of clindamycin and diagnosed as Kounis syndrome. Further diagnostic workup of the patient showed myocardial bridging at the mid left anterior descending artery. In this report, we present the combination of Kounis syndrome and myocardial bridging leading to myocardial infarction at young age
Anaesthesia and the Acute Phase Protein Response in Children Undergoing Circumcision
Concentrations of acute phase proteins (CRP: C-reactive protein, albumin) change during surgery. We investigated the acute phase response to circumcision and the effects of anaesthesia on this response. The children were divided into four groups; group 1 (intratracheal general anaesthesia, n = 40), group 2 (general anaesthesia with mask, n = 20), group 3 (ketamine, n = 20), group 4 (local anaesthesia, n = 35). Blood samples were obtained, 24 hours before circumcision, after premedication, and 24 hours after circumcision. CRP and albumin before circumcision were comparable for all groups. There was no increase in CRP, and albumin remained steady throughout the study. No difference was observed among the groups, and related to anaesthesia. No responsiveness may be explained with the size of injured tissue or anatomical and histological type of preputium
Possible chemical mechanism and determination of inhibitory effects of 1-MCP on superficial scald of the Granny Smith apple variety
The effects of postharvest 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatments on α-farnesene content, incidence of scald, and ethylene
content of the Granny Smith apple were evaluated in this study. Harvested apples were treated with 1-MCP at concentrations of 312.5,
625, and 1250 ppb. The 625 and 1250 ppb doses were found to be the most effective in terms of quality protection during storage. For
untreated fruits, symptoms of scald development appeared after 8 weeks in cold storage, whereas 1-MCP doses of 625 and 1250 ppb
were effective in decreasing superficial scald in fruit after 24 weeks of cold storage. 1-MCP can inhibit oxidation of α-farnesene, which
synthesizes during storage. This induces reactive oxygen species metabolism. 1-MCP introduces competitive behavior by breaking the
balance between α-farnesene production and the antioxidative defense system, due to the Schenck ene reaction
Morphometric and morphologic evaluation of the mental foramen in relation to age and sex: an anatomic cone beam computed tomography study
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the vertical and horizontal position, angle, and diameter of the mental foramen (MF) according to sex and age by cone beam computed tomography in a Turkish patient population.
Methods: Cone beam computed tomography records of 192 consecutive patients consisting of 106 women and 86 men were examined, retrospectively. The vertical and horizontal positions of MF, angle and diameter of MF, and distance from MF to the alveolar crest and the base of the mandible were evaluated with respect to sex and age groups.
Results: There were statistically significant differences in the distance of MF to the alveolar crest according to age groups. When we compared the right and left sides, we have only found out statistically significant differences in the angles of MF and that it was higher in the left side.
Conclusions: From our results, the detection of the position of MF can provide detailed information for preoperative treatment planning (for surgery and dental implant surgery procedures), especially in the mandibular premolar region
THE MODERATOR ROLE OF TRUST IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN COOPETITION AND INCREMENTAL INNOVATION: EVIDENCE FROM TOURISM INDUSTRY
With the increasing importance of coopetition in recent days, coopetition has been adopted by companies in order to
embark on the changing global market conditions. Cooperation is a variable that arises simultaneously from the concepts of
“cooperation” and “competition” that has become increasingly popular in recent years. In cooperation, the attitude of the partners
is important. During the competition process, the attitudes and behaviors of the partners towards each other should be within the
framework of ethical and moral rules, competence, efficiency and goodwill. It is believed that the efficiency of the innovation
process, which takes place together with the coopetition path, will be greater. It is aimed to improve the innovation performance
of companies through strong cooperation between companies and synergy in the information of the parties. The element of trust
is one of the important factors determining the direction of coopetition activities particular. For this, the trust factor between
partners often comes into play. This research questions how innovative firms that conduct R&D and innovation studies affect
trust in the relationship between coopetition efforts and incremental innovations in tourism industry. For this reason, it is aimed
to examine the moderator effect of trust in the relationship between cooperation and incremental innovation. The analysis of the
data collected in the study was tested by hierarchical regression analysis. The positive and significant impact of joint competitive
activities on the hospitality industry was further strengthened by the moderator effect of the trust and supported by the results of
the resulting field study. As a result, the study was finalized by supporting the assumption put forward
